About
Vision
The Festival canadien de cinéma jeunesse | Canadian Youth Film Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing the creativity of young filmmakers. In addition to providing a platform for youth film, the festival also supports teachers who wish to integrate filmmaking into their classrooms.
Mission
The Canadian Youth Film Festival is an annual event that highlights films created by elementary and secondary school students in educational settings across Canada. The initiative seeks to foster a national dialogue on the role of cinema in schools, recognizing its potential to stimulate creativity and promote student well-being. Organized as a competition, the festival is open to both francophone and anglophone students. To support classroom participation, pedagogical resources and teaching guides are made available to educators.
Who are we?

Emma June Huebner and Julie Talbot, dedicated media arts educators and engaged researchers, first connected through their shared passion for teaching film. Emma is now a professor in Visual and Media Arts Education at the Université de Montréal. Julie teaches media arts at Collège Regina Assumpta while continuing her research in art education. In 2021, they co-founded the Canadian Youth Film Festival, a platform that highlights the creativity and voices of young filmmakers.
